These two portrait drawings I made in practice of drawing humans. I did the realistic drawing first. In the middle is a collage of the drawing development. Then, I took that drawing and made a surrealist piece where I took out information from the drawing, and stripped it down to lines and shapes.
These two pieces are dual drawings that I made for a class to reflect on hardships in art. The pieces talk about children of war. There is a soldier, and a father who are one and the same both thinking about a child. As a soldier on the left, the man is rescuing a child from the war, while on the right, he is thinking about his own child. I made this piece using black and white vine charcoal.
